Trekking at sunset on the highest volcano in Europe
Date: The excursion at sunset will be on the days: 10, 14, 19, 26 on August.
Meeting point: Bar Esagonal, Piazzale Funivia.
Meeting: at 10:00, before climb of Etna, delivery of equipment, bureaucratic formalities, latest information from the volcanological bulletin of the NIGV of Catania and delivery of tickets.
From the meeting point, we will take the new Etna cable car, to reach the altitude of 2500 m. s.l.m. Here we will start our trekking on foot which will allow us to cross the moon landscape, made up of the recent lava flows emitted during the winter and spring 2021, then we will reach the area of the Barbagallo Craters where we will be able to see different hot spots.
We will travel along a lava flow channel and from there place we will admire the sunset. Then we will cross again magical lunar landscapes, to look over and have a great view of the Valle del Bove as well as on the lava of 2021. Then we will descend on the fine volcanic sand of the Montagnola that will go back to the starting point.
Return: 9:00 pm (approximately).
This type of excursion is not recommended to people suffering from heart and respiratory problems. The recommended minimum age is 12 years.

Excursion details
Ascending: Cable car up to 2500 m above sea level.
Trekking: Climb from 2500 m up to maximum achievable altitude
Descending: Trekking from maximum achievable altitude down to 2500 m, from where we take the cable car back to the departure point.
Price: 80 € plus cost of lifts and jeeps
